Américan, Jane was attracted to the arts at a very young age, after her art studies; she worked for a prestigious New York magazine. However, she was attracted to France where she met Chirico, Alice Toklas, Gertrude Stein, but the most important of her encounters was with Joe Downing.

Joe introduced her to the village of Menerbes, where she became a frequent visitor, finally buying a house, Rue Sainte Barbe. This house is now in prepartion to become the House Museum Fonds Jane Eakin.

Exposition Robert RENARD

Chapelle Saint-Blaise

presented "Fleurs de chair" at the Chapelle Saint-Blaise. Touched by the powerful choreography of Sasha Waltz on the theme of the Shoa: "Körper", the same silent screams, the same memories marked him. This could be seen and felt in the eight black and white works that was shown.

Exposition Jean LEYRIS

du 9 septembre au 14 octobre

Maison de la Truffe et du Vin

Couple de grenades - Jean Leyris

Bronze, plaster, crayon or ink with the purity of their lines, Jean Leyris draws our attention to his work which are capable of evoking within very powerful emotions.

Drawings, dear to Jean Leyris, become, in his bronze and his plaster, relief design. His main preoccupation is to give a life like image to his work, making them tactile with an impression of reality.

Relief design gives him the rare possibility to accomplish balance in his work. Confronted with his bronze, the magic works. Leyris objects become ours, simply obliging us to enter into his universe, made up on real intimacy. Very simply things, one or two characters, objects that are part of his surroundings, for example, the corner of a table, a space in his studio... in fact, subjects not considered up to now as relief art.

This intimacy echoes inside us, and Leyris objects force us to reach out towards him awaking ours senses. His work evokes unexpected emotions, inspiring us once we realise that ordinary objects become sensual...

Leyris never forget the importance of light, the attractive patina incrusted in his bronze are perfect examples... warms us !

This discovery is rich, complete, disconcerting, at the same time intrusive...
