In 1958, Raymond
Mason bought a small provencal farmhouse in the vineyard close to the
village of Menerbes facing the Luberon Mountains. As of 1960, the
artist started drawing and painting the surrounding landscapes. Sculpturing only in plaster, he decided to give up bronze which (in his opinion) betrays the luminosity; instead he adopted the use of epoxy resin and polyesters. With acrylic paint he started the works polychrome and paved the path to one of his materpieces «Les vendangeurs». There
is a logical implacable in the work of Mason. He is able to anticipate
each act and action of the visitor by assembling the maximum of shapes
and colours. This strategy consists in putting into place
a kaleidoscope of components, plastic and chromatic interwining to
capture the attention producing the spectacular effects in «Les
vendangeurs»...

Philip Hughes is fascinated by the landscape, the setting and history. A very fine artist, his sense of composition imposes a sublime game of equilibrium a bit like an engraving, or a japanese composition. Synthesis cartographer, drawings, paintings and photography, reflexes the different themes of his work. Philip Hughes work is an expression of contemporary and tradition. The simplicity and pureness of his traces translates in the strength of his landscapes. |
|
| A real testomony of equilibrium and pureness, sincerity and beauty, his works takes us in a fairy tale world of the past, with a strong imprint on today's art. | ||

Camille Monnier paints on the theme of Trees. Almonds, Green Oaks, Cedar trees are her source of inspiration. Using different types of techniques (coating, pigments, oil, acrylic) helps to bring out her emotions. At times, she has the impression to have arrived at an abstract shape... the motifs appear to be lost, reappearing only with light and vibration. |

LETTERS AS A YOUNG MAN BY NICOLAS DE STAËL |
||
![]() |
Nicolas de Staël wrote these letters in 1935, at the age of 21, while travelling in Spain. A lot of respect, tenderness and mixed sentiments could be felt in the letters in which he describes the things that surprises and fascinates him, the people he met, but most of all, his passionate rage to paint. The intense overwhelming emotions felt when confronted with so much light energy and beauty discovered in these southern countries, Spain, Morocco, and Italy... |
